Borth Lifeboat Station Crew
If you are aged 17 you can join the crew (with parental consent). If you are not yet 17 why not get in touch and we can explain what is required and ensure that you are ready to take up this interesting challenge when you are.
To become an RNLI Volunteer Crew Member, simply email volunteer@borthlifeboat.org.uk or come to the lifeboat station at 11am on Sunday and ask to see Ronnie.

Ronald Davies MBERon is the Lifeboat Operations Manager(LOM). Ron has been with the Borth Lifeboat since a boat was first put on station in 1966. He has twice received the Thanks of the Institution Inscribed on Vellum whilst he was a Helmsman, the first in 1978 and again in 1987, for saving lives in difficult and dangerous conditions. He was honoured by Her Majesty The Queen and presented with the Member, Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2001. |

Amos BewickAmos is a Helmsman and has been with the Borth Crew since 1992. He is currently the Station Training Coordinator. Amos works full-time for the local council and spends much of his free time Surfing or Fishing. Amos was awarded a Bronze Medal for the rescue of the helmsman of Aberdovey's ILB in severe weather conditions and a confused sea on 10 December 2000. |

Dave ReynoldsDave is the Lifeboat Press Officer and has been with the crew since September 2009. Dave develops and maintains the Borth lifeboat website, and is responsible for responding to all press enquiries and requests for information about Borth lifeboat station. You can contact Dave for information on Borth via dave@borthlifeboat.org.uk. Dave is Chairman and Coach at Borth Rowing Club, he is also a keen Windsurfer. In his youth Dave was a Rugby Hooker, having played in Sale's 2nd XV in 1977 and 1978. |

Derek NixonDerek has been a Crew Member since 2008. He is a local school teacher who enjoys Mountain Biking and Kite Surfing. |

Dylan DaviesDylan has been a Crew Member with the Borth Crew since 2001. Dylan is a prospective Helmsman. He works as a Travel Agent in Aberystwyth. |

Dylan EvansDylan is a Tractor Driver and has been with the Borth Lifeboat since 1997. He is a Farmer by profession. Dylan is a keen football fan, but no longer plays. |

Geraint EvansGeraint has had three spells with the Borth lifeboat as a crew member. He first joined Borth's crew in the eighties, rejoined in the nineties and has been with the crew again since 2008. He is often seen running around the village, and has taken part in several Marathons. Geraint works as a Music Teacher. He has an aim to raise a Band or a Choir from the Borth Crew members. In October 2010 Geraint ran the Cardiff Half Marathon and raised £200 for the RNLI. |

Gavin LoynesGavin became a Crew Member in December 2011. He is currently studying A levels in Penglais with the intention of achieving his dream job as a mechanical engineer (working on motorbikes) whilst continuing to be a crew member for Borth ILB. |

Kieran MathewsKieran became a Crew Member in December 2011. He is currently studying at AS level in Penglais school and is intending to continue next year in A level. Hi likes to go surfing and motorbiking. |

Martyn DaviesMartyn is a Helmsman and has been with the crew since 1998. He works at the Aberystwyth University. Martyn is a volunteer Firefighter for the Borth Volunteeer Fire Service, he is a Marine Mammal Medic for the British Divers and Marine Life Rescue. He is the Captain of Borth Rowing Club, which is a Coastal Rowing club within the Welsh Sea Rowing Association. Martyn was awarded a Medal Service Badge and Certificate for his part in the rescue of the helmsman of Aberdovey's ILB in severe weather conditions and a confused sea on 10 December 2000. |

Mikey BaileyMikey is a Crew Member. He is a keen footballer and plays in midfield or defence for Borth United FC. |

Pip NicholasPip originates from New Zealand and works at Aberystwyth University. She is a keen Rower and is Secretary of the Borth Rowing Club. Pip became a full crew member in October 2010 and completed her inshore lifeboat crew training at The Lifeboat College in Poole, in May 2011. Pip took part in her first shout on 26 June 2011, which you can read about here - New Borth volunteer lifeboat crew member responds to her first two calls. |

Rhys Pugh-EvansRhys became a Crew Member in 2009 and completed his D-Class IB1 training at The Lifeboat College in October 2010. Rhys is also a volunteer Firefighter for the Borth Volunteeer Fire Service. |

Rob ClarkRob became a Crew Member in November 2011. Rob works as an Internet Security Consultant for one of the largest IT companies in the world. He enjoys White Water and Surf Kayaking, which he got involved with while studying at the nearby Aberystwyth University. |

Simon HulseSimon is a Crew Member who joined the crew in November 2008. He is a Company Director for a Software Development Company in Aberystwyth. He enjoys Mountain Biking and Kite Surfing. |

Tim Ellis-ClarkeTim is Crew Member and is a prospective Helmsman. He enjoys scuba diving and used to be in the Royal Navy. |

Wil StockfordWil is a Helmsman for both Borth and for Aberdovey where he works. He has also been a member at Barmouth where he was brought up. He is a Marine mechanic and runs boat trips from Aberdovey up the Dovey Estuary during the summer. |
